How do I add icons to the quick start section of my Taskbar?

One of the many added features of Windows 98 is the “Quick Launch” toolbar, which resides on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen (next to the Start button). Microsoft, by default, places several of its icons on this toolbar such as the Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and a handy button that will minimize all programs (no matter how many are open) so that you can see the Desktop. To see what each icon will do, simply place your mouse pointer over the top of it (without clicking) and a small label will appear to describe the icon. These are called “Smart Icons” because they explain themselves in this manner. To add an icon for a program to this Quick Launch toolbar, simply left-click and drag the shortcut for the associated program to the Quick Launch section then release. You can drag icons from your desktop, the Programs menu, the Explorer menu or even from the My Computer window. You can drag shortcuts to often used drives, documents or even your favorite websites. If you place several icons on the Quick Launch toolbar you will notice that a “chevron” (double-arrows pointing to the right) appears on the far right. When you click it, the rest of the icons will appear. You can also expand the size of the toolbar by floating your mouse at the right edge of the toolbar until the pointer turns into a double arrow, then left-click and drag to the right. Be careful about how far you expand the Quick Launch toolbar because it takes away real estate from the Taskbar, which is what shows you what programs are currently open. I recommend only putting programs that you use on a daily basis on the Quick Launch toolbar. You can arrange the icons in any order by left-clicking and dragging to the desired position on the list. You can also remove any of the existing icons as well as the ones that you have placed on the toolbar at any time. Simply right-click on the icon to open a dialog box with multiple options and click on the Delete option. The system will ask you to confirm the deletion. The message may make it sound like it is going to remove the program, but it is only asking about the icon itself.
