| Tip of the Week: Alt-Esc - the other way to switch between applications |
So you know that Alt-Tab allows you to "cycle" amongst open applications, but it requires you to hold the Alt key while you press Tab and only cycles through windows on the taskbar, and it won't cycle anything other than a real 'Window'. If a dialog box or other type of Window is present, you won't 'cycle' Alt-Tab does not cycle that as one of the choices. The solution - Alt-Esc. This week's tip may be just what the doctor ordered!
Simply press and hold the 'Alt' key and then press 'Esc' (multiple times if necessary) and it will cycle through running applications AND those other Windows and Dialog boxes (for example, the Property page for Display properties that you can get to in Control Panel).

You took the recommendation and set your system to download and automatically install updates from Microsoft only to find that the documents and other items you had left open the night before have been closed and your system restarted!
To stop this from happening to you (again), simply open Control Panel and open Automatic Updates. Change the option to Download updates to your computer, but to Ask before installing the updates which puts you back in control and stops you from losing work!
