Tip of the Week: Windows Keyboard Shortcuts

The Windows key on your keyboard does much more than just open the start menu. When pressed in combination with other keys it can be a powerfull shortcut to commonly used commands. Here are a few that may prove useful:

  • Windows + M: Minimize all Windows
  • Windows + E: Open Windows Explorer
  • Windows + F: Open Find Files or Folder
  • Windows + D: Shows/Hides the Desktop
  • Windows + Tab: Cycle through Taskbar Buttons

Headwhack of the Week: Right-Click on a Mac

Apple computers are notorious for their single-button mice. Recently, two or more buttons have become more common, but you can still encounter Macs with the dreaded hockey puck mouse. How do you right click with a single-button mouse? You have two options:

  • Hold down the 'Ctrl' key while clicking
  • Press and hold the left (or single) mouse button

Parallels is a 'virtual desktop' program for the Mac that allows Mac owners to run Windows in parallel with their current operating system. Parallels leverages the fact that Macs now use the same hardware as PCs always have, and is another piece of the puzzle bringing Macs and PCs closer and closer.
