Headwhack of the Week: Online Media Player videos won't play
Streaming video content on the Internet is exploding and the various ways to view it continues to grow. Some websites embed Windows Media Player videos into a web page (very common on broadcast television news sites) so that when you click on them, you won't need to actually launch your local version of the player.
If you find that you can watch other types of streaming video, but have problems viewing embedded Media Player video, it could be a security setting in your local media player software. To check this, launch Media Player and click on the Tools menu (you may need to press the ALT key in order to see the menu options.) Next, click on Options..., then on the Security tab. If there is a checkmark in front of "Do not run script command and rich media streams if the Player is running inside a Web Page" remove it, click on OK and see if it works.
To fully understand what each of these security settings do, click on the Help button while you have the Options window open (before you click on OK).
