Tip of the Week: Speed dial to your most used websites

We all have bookmarks for our favorite sites, but the longer you are online, the longer the list becomes. As with most Internet users, you have a handful of sites that you go to regularly, so wouldn't it be nice if we could setup a page to get to our most frequently visited sites in Only 2 Clicks?

Headwhack of the Week: Remember the Milk!

As long as we are introducing you to helpful websites, how about a site that helps husbands with their 'honey do lists' or soccer moms with their insane schedules? How about being able to get at the list of to-do's from any web connected computer or device (including an app for the iPhone)? Check out Remember the milk!

Geek Speak of the Week: Social Notworking

Surfing a social networking site instead of working. These employees are also referred to as social notworkers.

Security:  Tax Season brings phishing and other Scams

Two things to remember as you prepare to file your taxes: If you get an e-mail from the IRS, it's probably a scam. And don't forget the stamp.

As the April 15 tax filing date nears, online tax-related scams tend to ratchet up, experts say. If you're not careful, you could lose a lot more than just the refund.

News: R.I.P. Dungeons & Dragons Co-Creator Dave Arneson

Arneson was a driving force behind D&D's creation and his contribution to the world of adventure gaming should not be underestimated. It was Arneson's spark that transformed Gygax's game Chainmail into the first edition of D&D, and begat everything that followed.

News: Bluetooth 3.0 Coming April 21

The Bluetooth 3.0 standard is expected to deliver even faster short-range wireless speeds (up to 480 Mbit/s), improvements to reduce chances of device disconnections when syncing, and the addition of Generic Alternate MAC/PHY (AMP) technology that will reportedly allow Bluetooth 3.0 devices to transfer data at speed on par with Wi-Fi.

Data Doctors Video on Cnn.com: Ransomeware much more likely than Conficker

With any luck, the over-hyped coverage of Conficker won't cause Internet users to relax about the dangers of malware and social engineering, especially since Ransomware is more likely to get you this year than Conficker!

Opinion: The Great Internet Slowdown

Sascha Segan of PCMag.com: We did it; we finally broke the Internet. You shouldn't see Time Warner's capping home users' bandwidth and AT&T's momentary, panicked foray into banning Slingboxes solely as examples of ISPs greed. See them also as signs of ISPs' deep abiding fear.

Weekly Advice Column: Is Internet Explorer 8 OK to Download Yet?

You repeatedly hear us singing the praises of Firefox as the best browser on the block, but the reality of the Internet is that sometimes you must use Microsoft's Internet Explorer in order to use certain websites. IE 8 came out a while ago, but should you upgrade yet?

This Week's Show: Keyboard Shortcuts

Despite our dependence on the mouse as a user interface, the keyboard offers much more power and an almost endless number of keyboard shortcuts.

Most of us use a couple of shortcuts on a regular basis, but would we use more of them if we knew about them!

This week we talk about our favorites and invite you to call, e-mail or "tweet" us (@TheDataDoc) with your favorite keyboard shortcuts so that everyone gets to learn a plethora of new favorites!

Join us Saturdays from 12:00PM-2:00PM (Pacific) on News 92.3 KTAR or listen LIVE  via the Internet at KTAR.com as we discuss your computer questions at: 602.277.5827 or ask your questions during (or before) the broadcast using the ask a question page.
