Headwhack of the Week: Beat the spammers with disposable e-mail

Whenever you create a user account on just about any website these days, you are asked for a valid e-mail address so that they can send you an activation code or something along those lines.  Often times, the site wouldn't need to have your e-mail address past the first 10 minutes, but they want it to send you "Valuable Additional Information" down the road.

Well, the next time you need a valid e-mail address, but only for about 10 minutes (or just long enough to get an activation code, etc.), then bookmarks this site: 10 Minute Mail   WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS SYSTEM IF YOU WILL EVER NEED TO HAVE ANYTHING SENT TO THE E-MAIL ADDRESS IN THE FUTURE (lost password, etc.); it's only for sites that you will never have a reason to interact with again!

Opinion: It's Time to Drop the 'Expectation of Privacy' Test

Wired.com's Bruce Schneier asserts: In the United States, the concept of "expectation of privacy" matters because it's the constitutional test, based on the Fourth Amendment, that governs when and how the government can invade your privacy.  The problem is, in today's information society, the definition test will rapidly leave us with no privacy at all.

It's the number one question we were asked most of this week...if you want to know the ins and outs of this latest threat, here is our advice!

This Week's Show: Netbooks vs Notebooks

Viruses, worms, Trojans and every form of malware surrounds every one of us on the Internet, every day.  Once in a while, a particular set of circumstances will come together to create lots of concern over a specific piece of malware: enter Conficker C!

What makes Conficker C such a media star is that it is very aggressive towards all of our security programs and it has a trigger date of April 1st.
Plenty of people (& security vendors) are treating Conficker C as if it were something dramatically different...it's not.

This week, we try to be the voice of reason on this impending event by providing you solid advice on how to check your machine, what to do if you are infected & how you get it in the first place!

Join us Saturdays from 12:00PM–2:00PM (Pacific) on News 92.3 KTAR or listen LIVE via the Internet at KTAR.com as we discuss your computer questions at: 602.277.5827 or ask your questions during (or before) the broadcast using the ask a question page.
