Tip of the Week: Update all your Social Media at once

If you follow Ken on Twitter you might have seen the question that came up about managing status updates across many social media sites.  If you use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for example, you probably don't always update as often as you would like because of the extra time.

Not all status updates are relevent across all your social media, but often times they are....which is where Ping.fm comes into your online life!

Ping.fm is capable of updating your status on over 40 social networks and even has options for using your mobile device!

Headwhack of the Week: Confessions of an ISP Customer Service Rep

Few things in the computer world can compare to the frustration and helpless feeling (and the encourement to engage in headwhacking) than calling your Internet Service Provider's customer service group of assistance.

If you've ever wondered what really goes on behing the scenes at an ISPs call center, checkout this article on PCWorld.com.

Geek Speak of the Week: Spamdexing

(a.k.a. Search spam or search engine spam) The practice of adding unrelated information to a web page, usually on a repetative basis, to encourage indexing by search engines. This practice worked when search engines were fairly unsophisticated, but can get your site blacklisted if done today.

Security: Spammers harvesting emails from Twitter - in real time!

Email harvesting has been around since the early days of the Internet and has greatly evolved throughout the years. The popularity of social media has had the spammers working hard to find ways to harvest more valid e-mail addresses. Read this to help understand how they are tricking folks on Twitter.

News: Share your vacation with these online services

News: Burning Question: Does My Gear Know When Its Warranty Is Up?

Gadgets are such a big part of our lives these days and the number of them that we take for granted every day isn't obvious until one of them breaks.

Isn't it odd how many times a tech product fails just outside of the product warranty?  Is it coincidence or by design?

Opinion: Is the Free Web about to expire?

"It's finally happening. The foundation upon which the Web is built-oodles and oodles of free content and services-is about to crumble. It hasn't happened yet, but the signs that it soon will are all there" according to Lanch Ulanoff of PCMag.com.

Weekly Advice Column: Does migration software for new PCs work?

The single biggest pain that Windows users encounter when buying a new computer is getting it to look and work like their old one.  Many companies are selling third-party programs that claim to take the pain out of swapping machines, but do they really work?

This Week's Show: Searching for a new way to Search

The Internet is often referred to as one of the most significant accomplishments in the history of mankind.

Virtually any bit of information on virtually any subject can be found by searching the Internet.

How we search the Internet has evolved dramatically in a very short period of time and even though Google is the current undisputed heavyweight of search, if history has taught us anything, it won't be forever.

Remember when AltaVista was considered the best search engine? How about when Excite first hit the scene? Do you remember the hoopla surrounding the launch of this really useful directory called Yahoo!

Listen in as the Data Doctors discuss the past, present and future of search and how Social Media may be what changes the rules of the game.

Join us Saturdays from 12:00PM-2:00PM (Pacific) on News 92.3 KTAR or listen LIVE via the Internet at KTAR.com  as we discuss your computer questions at: 602.277.5827 or ask your questions during (or before) the broadcast using the ask a question page.
