Tip of the Week: Gesture your thoughts in Firefox

From the "you really gotta try it to appreciate it" department comes this week's tip: All-in-One Gestures, which is an addon for Firefox.

If you spend a lot of time on the Internet and find yourself using menus to get to certain functions, then this addon could be your new best friend.  Instead of clicking on menus or releasing your mouse to hit a keyboard combination, you can set your mouse gestures to perform certain tasks...intrigued?  Learn more here!

Headwhack of the Week: Why does my keyboard make a beeping sound sometimes?

If you seem to be hearing things at various points as you type on your keyboard, it may not be your imagination.

One of the Windows Accessibility settings is designed to create a tone whenver you toggle the Caps Lock, Scroll Lock or Num Lock keys on your keyboard.  If you tap your Num Lock key a couple of times and hear the sound, then do the following:

Windows XP: Open the Control Panel, then the Accessibility Options icon to access the ToggleKeys setting.  Remove the checkmark from the "Use ToggleKeys" box (or the opposite if you want to activate the sounds).

Windows Vista:  Open the Control Panel, then the Ease of Access Center, then click on Make the Keyboard easier to use. Scroll down until you see the Toggle Keys option.

Geek Speak of the Week: Life Password

The password that you use for every website, email account, facebook, twitter or pretty much anything online. Having a 'life password' is not a good idea, but most everyone does it.

Security: Clickjacking: Hijacking clicks on the Internet

The problem with clickjacking exploits is that no matter what protection software you have installed, if you are tricked into clicking on a fake link, you will be transported to the location that the hacker wants you to go.

Cnet has posted a video demonstrating how this exploit works here!
