NEW*** Poll of the Week: Do we really need legislation to stop txting while driving?

The push to create legislation to regulate stupidity is growing, what do you think?

Tip of the Week: Find Alternatives To...

Good software is often very expensive or overly complicated; wouldn't it be great the next time you need to accomplish a task via a software program to be able to ask someone if there is an alternative to the popular option?

Well, lucky you (and the rest of the Internet world!), the next time you find yourself asking "I wonder if there is an alternative to..." point your browser over to www.alternativeto.net !

Headwhack of the Week: Organize your Social Networks

Social networking is exploding: Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, YouTube and the list goes on and on.

None of us are engaged with all of them, but most of us are using a handful of networks and that can quickly become a headwhack...

In earlier newsletters, we told you about Ping.fm as a way to send status updates to multiple networks at the same time, but now you can access and manage all your social networks on one dashboard with GizaPage.com

Geek Speak of the Week: Cloudburst

(Negative) The failure of a cloud computing environment from an overload of demand

(Positive) The use of the 'Cloud' to handle a spike in internal applications that overload the local resources

Security: 5 More Indicted in International Carding Ring

Five eastern European men were indicted in New York on Monday as part of an international ring allegedly responsible for at least $4 million in credit card theft.

News: TV makers pushing 3D at home

Many of the biggest names in consumer technology are pushing not only 3D cinema, but watching 3D movies and playing 3D games at home.

Without a doubt, 3D has garnered the most buzz at this year's IFA in Berlin (which is the largest consumer electronics show in the world.)

News: AT&T Will Enable iPhone MMS on Sept. 25

FINALLY!!! Apple introduced the ability to send pictures and graphics via text messaging (MMS) when they released version 3.0 of the iPhone OS, but in a cruel twist of fate, AT&T did not support this service on their network.

AT&T will enable MMS for iPhone 3G and 3GS customers on September 25th via a software update...WOOHOOO!

Data Doctors Video on Cnn.com: Minding your Mail?

Spam is bad enough when it clogs up our Inboxes, but a growing problem is the ability to get our legitimate messages past spam filters, especially when sending something to those at large companies.  Watch this week's segment to learn what can cause your spam score to go way up!

Watch the video and help our rankings on CNN.com!  You can watch us live AT OUR NEW TIME every Wednesday afternoon at 2:30PM Pacific, 5:30PM Eastern or watch the archived versions of our segments whenever you want at CNN.com/video.

Opinion:  If a flash drive infects a network, who's to blame?

Zack Whittaker of ZDNet.com poses a social question based on a recent event where a local authority in England was crippled when an infected flash drive was plugged into one of the computers on their network...who is to blame?

Weekly Advice Column: Pros & Cons of cloud computing

The question was posed on last week's radio show and because it has many questions attached to it, it is the theme of this week's radio show, but for an overview of what exactly cloud computing is along with the pros and cons, read on!

This Week's Show: Computing in the 'Cloud'

In technical circles, the Internet has always been referred to as 'the cloud' and as more valuable Internet resources come on line, more of us will engage in 'cloud computing'.

If you use webmail (like Gmail or Yahoo Mail), online tax preperation software, online accounting programs or manage your business contacts via a web-based service, you are part of the cloud computing masses.

Listen in as the Data Doctors discuss the pros and cons of cloud computing and how to evaluate whether your next application should reside on your own computer or in the cloud!

Join us Saturdays from 12:00PM-2:00PM (Pacific) on News 92.3 KTAR or listen LIVE via the Internet at KTAR.com  as we discuss your computer questions at: 602.277.5827 or ask your questions during (or before) the broadcast using the ask a question page.
