Tip of the WeekE-Signatures A Guide To Paperless Signing

Your best-laid plans of going paperless come to a screeching halt when you need to get someone's signature on a document. That process typically involves printing the document, signing it yourself, faxing it to the other party, and waiting for them to print, sign, and fax it back-where it's printed yet a third time and filed away in a cabinet forever. It's an antiquated regimen. It's busy work. But there is a better way, here's how.

Headwhack of the WeekHow To Grab A Freeze Frame From A Video

Did you know you can easily grab a frame by capturing the image on the screen and saving it? If you're using Vista, Windows 7, or 8, use the Snipping Tool, you can do it with ease. Here's how to do it.

Geek Speak of the Week: Bounce

Bounce occurs when a website visitor views a single page on a website and leaves. The Bounce rate represents the percentage of visitors who enter the site and "bounce" (leave the site) rather than continue viewing other pages within the same site. You want a low bounce rate on your website. Less is more.

    Replacing The Password

    Security: Replacing The Password

A group of tech companies looking to replace passwords for online identity authentication gained a powerful ally this week in the form of Google. The consortium is working to develop standards-based alternatives for verifying a user's identity when trying to login to Web sites and online accounts. Is facial recognition far off? Check out what they are trying to change.

    CISPA Stalls

    News: Living Social Hacked

Do you use Living Social? Be on high alert. A LivingSocial spokesperson said the company has begun reaching out to the more than 50 million customers whose data may have been compromised.

Leaked data includes names, e-mail addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords. Customers' credit card information and merchants' financial and banking information were not affected by the hack, LivingSocial said. Read the whole story here.
    Hiding Apps You Never Use

Data Doctors Video: Hiding Apps You Never Use

When you get an app, you think wow, what a great app! I can use this thing every single day. The reality is very different. Many of us find an app, use it once or twice and then it gets back burnered, never to be used again. Here's how to hide those unused apps.

Weekly Advice Column:  Fake Microsoft Phone Call Scam on the Rise Again!

I received a call today from a male who identified himself as Andrew Allison with Microsoft Security. He told me that "my NT wires" were installed incorrectly and were causing errors across the internet and that he could talk me through the steps needed to correct the problem.

These scam calls started several years ago and they will continue because too many folks are still falling for it. Here's what you need to know.
