Go to Programs, go to Accessories, go to System Tools, then click on System Information
Wait for the screen to refresh itself, check to see how much Total Physical Memory you have in contrast to how much Available Physical Memory you have.
Now the memory on this screen is measured in KB; however if you see 261,552 KB, it is
equivalent to 256MB (Total Physical Memory)
Now, if your Available Physical Memory reads 10,000 KB or lower, and you don't have any
applications open, then you need to add more memory to your PC, which is probably the
case anyway.
The other thing you might want to do is search through all your files and folders to see if there
is anything you do not need and get rid of it, so as to free up memory space.
