Why doesn't any websites display pictures

Question

On every website I visit I get numerous syntax error messages, and when I do get onto a web site It is not diplayed correctly, and all pictures or images are crossed out. I had a pop up blocker that I believed to be the problem, but when deleted did not solve the problem. My internet service provider is AOL.
