Recall of IBM notebook adapters announced!

IBM recently announced a recall of their AC adapters for notebook computers.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) & IBM recently announced a recall of AC Power Adapters used in notebook computers. IBM is voluntarily recalling about 225,000 units and advise all consumers to immediately stop using the products unless otherwise instructed. The recalled power adapters may overheat and cause damage to the circuit board, which poses a fire hazard to users, although no injuries have been reported.

The recalled 56W AC power adapters were shipped primarily with IBM ThinkPad i Series, 390 and 240 Series, and s Series notebook computers. The adapters have three hollow pins at the AC inlet and part number 02K6549 on a label on the top of the unit.

Consumers with the recalled units are advised to stop using the recalled batteries immediately and contact IBM to make arrangements for a free replacement unit.
