Why do files want to change filenames when they exist?

Question

trying to save a excisting file, keeps asking me for file name, when file name already excists, why?

When you are trying to save something even though the file exists, the computer just wants to make sure if you want to change the file name or keep it the same. It’s just some precaution so that way if you don’t want to erase the original you don’t have to. Hope that helps!
