Why does my computer shut down when I plug in my USB drive?

When I plug in my USB cord for my digital camera, it shuts off my computer instantly. Do you have any ideas what could be causing the problem.

This question was answered on November 15, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

You might want to try and update to "Sp2". Go to "http://www.usbman.com/" and update your usb drivers.

On the web site, where it says Operating System on the lower left column click on WinXP. There should be the updates.
