Modem not found

Question

i have this laptop that i have been tring to set up for my friend.Every time I try to get on the inter net the screen shows modem not found.then i tried the aol fix problem.then it said there were compatibility problems due to programs not closed or running.the computer was bought used and i can not fix the problem can you help me please?

This question was answered on November 16, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

Probably because it was used by another person, some things have been changed on the computer. And the configuration was changed. You would have to go into the control panel and change the configuration if need be.
