How to stop my switch from printing a blank page?

Question

I and my 3 coleagues connect to one HP4050 printer through a 4:1 parallel printer switch.

The problem is that the switch prints a blank page at the end of each print job.

The switch is a 'Parallel - autoswitch TP-401'. It has four microswitches on the rear panel. I know that it is the switch that is generating the blank pages because the previous switch didn't do it.

Thanks in advance, Ben

This question was answered on December 2, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

If a blank page prints out before the text does, or if the first page has a few gibberish characters on it, then this could mean that you have a problem with the printer software, or the printer cable is too long, or you have a scanner in between the printer and computer that is causing this problem. To correct this problem, you may have to update your software, change the printer cable, or change your configuration a little bit.
