Simple printer Problem

Question

I had a printer attached to a PC that is logged onto a Network. Everything was working fine and the Printer was printing via the LPT1 port. This printer was installed as a local printer and there was no sharing of this printer what so ever.

The User was away and the password was changed and now the printer doesn't print at all.

I removed the printer and reinstalled it and still no joy.

After doing this i get error message that say that the printer is unable to print the test page. Its like it cannot see the printer at all. Printer is KYocera 6500 and there is a XP Pro driver as well.

So in desperation i installed it on another PC as a work around but would like to get it going on the original PC.

Any body got any ideas or info on why all of a sudden by changing the password my printer doesn't print.

Another thing to note here was when i went into the ports currently installed on the PC there was about 15-20 ports allocated to various other printers that had already been used.

Use the cleanspl.exe utility from the Windows 2003 reskit. Restart the computer and add again the local printer.
