Unknown Icons might be Virus

Question

My computer has recently started to make all icons and the toolbar disappear when I go into My Computer, or Control Panel. The screen also shakes when it is on. Does my computer have a virus? If I bring it in to Data Doctors, how much will it cost to have it fixed?

Answer

This question was answered on February 8, 2005. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

The reason there is many Icons in your PC is because you have visited sites that have many popups which are capable of downloading to your PC without you knowing.

The reason this is happening is because you probably did not have a pop-up blocker.

The best thing you can do is run a system restore.

Goto:

-Start menu

-Programs

-Accessories

-System Tools

-System Restore

From there you are able to run a Wizard that guides you thru easy steps.

After that download a tool bar such yahoo! which include a pop-up blocker or use a web browser like Firefoz that has a built-in pop-up blocker. You can download free from www.mozilla.org
