How to troubleshoot a system restoration process?

My power flickered for a second. Now I have no sound and I am unable to do a system restore. It goes through all the motions of a system restore and tells me it wasn't completed.

You might try going into device manager and remove the sound devices and restart and let Windows reinstall your sound device and see if that fixes the sound problem.
