Your computer doesn't recognize the cd drive?

Question

My computer doesn't seem to acknowledge when there is a disk in the drive. It reads 'please insert disk into disk drive a/d' when there is already a disk in.

Answer

This question was answered on March 18, 2005. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

A couple of things it could be due to,

1 Your CD/DVD Drive needs cleaning.

2 The disks you are using could need cleaning.

If you pop a disk into D drive, then go to my computer & double-click on the cd-rom drive... if it won't display the contents of the disk, then try running a lens cleaner disk. If it then still doesn't work, I'd guess the drive needs replacing.
