How do I keep my pc from shutting down?

My monitor keeps going of and the pc shuts down. When i eventually get it back on it comes up with a recovered from a fatal error

This question was answered on November 15, 2005. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

The fatal error can occur from several problems and the Virtual Memory Manager is trying to correct the problem. First, check your RAM and you may need to add more to correct the problem. Second, you may need to reduce the number of programs you are running at the same time. Finally, make sure the program you are working in has enough space and increase the amount of space to run the program.
