What's Active X?

Question

Microsoft keeps asking for me to update with Active X Controls is this a good thing to do and what is active x controls?????????????.

This question was answered on April 16, 2006. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

Active X is an enhancement for Windows users. It allows websites and some games to provide a better graphical and for lack of a better word, flashy, experience. Active X upgrades should hurt your computer but it wouldn't be a bad idea to create a System Restore point before installing an Active X control just incase things go south.
