The following is taken from the tech support page of Visioneer about your scanner and printer. Have you tried this already? If this doesn't help and you have already uninstalled and unplugged the scanner, then reinstalled everything please write back.
Communication problems may arise when an Epson Stylus printer and the scanner are connected to the same port. This is caused by Epson's Spooler Manager interferring with the scanners ability to communicate with the PaperPort software.
To resolve this issue, disable Epson's Spooler Manager:
1. From the Windows "Start" button, select "Programs", then select the "Epson" program group, and then select "Spool Manager".
2. From the "Queue" menu, select "Setup".
3.Click on the "General" tab, and place a check in the box labeled "Use Print Manager for this port."
4. Click the "OK" button to save and exit.
5. Restart the computer and try to scan again.
NOTE:
The print Spooler Manager can also be accessed by starting a print job and then selecting Spool Manager from the Task Bar icon.
