How do I set AOL 4.0 to use 10 digit dialing?

Question

How do I set AOL 4.0 to use 10 digit dialing for a local area code that is not a long distance number?

Answer

This question was answered on June 13, 1999. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

Your area code column did not describe a solution to accessing AOL. I use AOL 4.0. Soluton = "Sign off but keep AOL loaded on your computer. Click Setup on the Sign On screen. Click Edit AOL Access numbers, then click Expert Setup. On the locations screen click on the phone number once to highlight it, then click Edit. About halfway down you will find a line to Edit number here. Click inside that box and type the exact number you want the program to dial, e.g. 602-640-3912 (note that there is no 1- before the area code number 602). Be sure to click OK to save the change. Repeat the process for your second number and then click Close." This should do the trick for those who need to dial a local AOL access number from new area codes 480 and 623. Adapted from AOL's answer to my question.

Hope this helps.
