1.6 GB Hard Drive Woes?

Question

1.6 GB Hard Drive Woes with the Western Digital AC31600

Answer

This question was answered on June 15, 1999. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

Do you have a Western Digital 1.6GB hard drive that keeps playing tricks on you? Tricks like duplicating directories, erasing files, putting unknown characters into filenames or maybe just won't allow you to install new programs properly? If you are the proud owner of the Western Digital AC31600 hard drive.., it has a problem. This drive has somehow managed to slip by the major quality tests at WD and has escaped in order to cause you headaches. You may be entitled to a replacement (3 Year Factory Warranty) drive. The return instructions on Western Digital's web site has been pulled down so you will have to call them if you still have one of these drives.
