Missing HD space?

Question

I have two hard drives. One is 20GB and the other is 80GB. The one with 80GB has 76.33GB of usable space. I checked the files on it and found that they amass to a grand total of 57.4GB. There is also about 4.5GB of empty space. Where is the other 15GB of space? Is there a way for me to get this space back without formatting the drive?

First of all, there is a windows file size difference from what you see when you look at properties. What you see is not what is actually there. This link explains more in depth about the subject. http://articles.networktechs.com/36-p1.php Also check and see if there are any hidden or system files taking up the space.
