Why do my floppy disks only copy 1.2 Mb instead of the full 1.44Mb?

Question

Tried full backup to 1.44mb, formatted floppies. Asks for new disk after copying 1.25k. Tried and re-retried both from full backup option from format and from system full backup.Checking a floppy shows the 1.25K used,1.2MB etc. avaible.

I have one answer that Microsoft never did get their Backup working right in W95 but that 98 is fine, is that correct?

It sounds more like your BIOS is set to recognize your floppy drive as a 5.25" 1.2MG disk drive instead of the 3.5" 1.44MG disk drive. To check this you will need to restart your computer and press "Delete" or whatever your BIOS message may indicate to enter into the CMOS Setup in your BIOS. Make sure the floppy A: and/or B: are set properly. The backup software in both Win95 and Win98 work properly with floppy disks.
