What can I do to defend my computer from these threats?

My computer keeps telling me that I have several threats and viruses... it has disabled my Microsoft Word, Excel, paint, etc. I cannot afford to take it to someone, but I need to get it fixed asap! I need it because I am trying to start a business from home. Please let me know if you can help with some pointers.

Your best bet that will not cost you a thing is to pick up an excellent, free anti-virus program called AVG free edition. The webiste is www.free.grisoft.com. Once you get it and install it run a full scan of your computer, hopefully it will locate these threats and help you secure them. Good luck with your new business!!
