How to open a .wks file

Question

when I try to open a .wks file, (spreadsheet), I get a message that says "windows cannot open this file. It needs to know what program created it.

This question was answered on October 15, 2007. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

Your file was created by Microsoft works spreadsheet. Make sure you have Microsoft Works installed, then right click on the .wks file, go to Open With and click Choose Program.

Go to where Microsoft Works is installed and select the spreadsheet icon. This will set Microsoft Works as the default program to open all of your .wks files.
