Why does my computer keep freezing on the XP logo?

my computer keeps making a sound internally. the sound is exactly like the sound when you hit the reset button and the computer is restarting , except it makes this soung about once every minute or so and after 30 or so minutes the computer finally hangs up and i have to restart. this started after we lost power to the house (not due to a storm)

Hey there,

This sounds like a problem with your hard drive, especially the sounds you are receiving as well as the hang up. The sudden loss of power could have caused this but I highly doubt that, you may need to upgrade to a new hard drive, but will know for sure by having a diagnostics test run on your hd.
