Why is my net taking so long to connect?

Question

i have dsl with a router on my desktop. have talked to dsl people and they refered me to router people about the 1 to 2 min. it tackes to connect to net. while watching small screen in taskbar trying to connect, i can point to it and see " the problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer" after quite a while i get connected with no other problems. i've unpluged everything and reconnected. would this be a modom or router problem? any susgestions would be app. thanks glen

Glen,

Sorry to hear your having issues, this sounds like your DHCP is assigning you a new ip address every time you connect, otherwise it is most likely a router issue. Under your network settings you can put automatically assign me and address, make sure that is clicked yes, restart your router and give it a shot.
