How do I reinstall the Word Pad program?

I NO LONGER HAVE THE ACCESSORY "WORD PAD" ON MY COMPUTOR. It just disappeared with a warning window that said "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" and "wordpad caused an invalid fault in module"

Please help. How do I get this important accessary back in my program. Thank You

This question was answered on August 22, 1999. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

First, go to the Start button, Settings, then Control Panel. Double-click the add/remove programs icon. Click the tab for Windows Setup.

Highlight the accessories field then click details. At the bottom of this list should be the wordpad program. If wordpad is unchecked click the box to its left and check it. Hit apply then restart the machine.

If it is currently checked,uncheck it, hit apply and restart your machine.

After your machine reboots go back into the control panel and the add/remove programs feature.

Go back into accessories and recheck the field for wordpad. Hit apply again; you might need the windows cd for this.

After all this go to the Start Button, Programs, Accessories and then run wordpad.

If wordpad still doesen't open you have other problems with your machine that need attention.
