COMPAQ has posted a fix to a lockup problem experienced by users of the 5800/5900 series Presarios using the AMD Athlon processor.

Presario Models affected:

Presario 5831, 5833, 5837, 5838, 5855, 5858, 5861, 5862, 5868, 5875, 5888, 5900Z

The ROM update does the following:

- Fixes an issue where models with certain DVD drives would occasionally lock up when starting up Windows.

- Fixed a long delay when configuring UDMA drives.

- Changed some timings to support additional memory devices.
