Why does floppy drive lock up my computer?

Question

When I try to use the floppy drive, the computer "locks up".

I thought it was the drive itself so I replaced it. That wasn't my problem........it still does the same thing!!!!

I have tried several different floppies.....it's the same with any one floppy I try. Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Julian

Hello and thank you for your question.

Here are some things that could cause your problem:

1.Faulty cable

2.Incorrect connections

3.Faulty controller

4.Faulty motherboard

You can start with connections and then replace your floppy cable, and if still no change I would suggest replacing your motherboard.

Good luck!!
