What is the best way to test the speed of my LAN?

The answer to your question would be Network Monitors. Network Momitors are software tools that track all or a selected part of Network traffic. Network monitors are very useful for establishing part of the network baseline on a new network,which will show you how much the network is slowing down after it is up and running.
