Question

I am new to the computer world, in which my friend gave me an extra computer he had and he helped connect me to the internet. Any way my question is how do I get to DOS, and how can I see where my infomation is going. I was told I could do this with DOS.

I see that you are trying to trace your route across the internet. well I think I can help you. First you need to click on the START button> scroll to the RUN box and Click. this opens a Run dialogue Box.> In the box type cmd, or command. This opens up the DOS prompt which you want to get into. This is a sure way to enter the DOS prompt. In DOS type tracert and the url address you wish to trace. Example www.computerproblems.com. Then hit the enter key. You will then be able to see where your infomation is going in order to get to its destination. Phoenix , SaltLake City , Scottsdale, ect..

Now you know how to get into the DOS command.

To exit all you have to type is exit. Then the DOS command will close.
