AnswerThis question was answered on March 7, 2002. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting. Microsoft has acknowledged a possible problem that can cause a popping sound to come from USB speakers on a Windows XP Home or Professional computer. These pops may come at intervals of every few seconds to every few minutes. According to Microsoft, the pops happen because some frames are being dropped by the USB bus. You can install a fix by using the Windows XP Dynamic Update package that can be downloaded from:
