How do I use the bootup disk?

Question

When booted, my computer does not load up. I get a message that says it cannot read IDE 0, then asks for a floppy bootup disk to be inserted. Does this mean that the hardrive is bad? How can I fix this problem?

It sounds as if your computer is looking for the files that load your operating system.

When your computer is off, put the bootup disk in the floppy drive, then power the computer on. You will get prompt messages that will take you through the bootup process.

As a precaution, it would be a good idea for you to do a little research before you start this procedure. The bootup disk is going to ask you some questions & if you research a little, you should have no problem knowing how to answer them. You can go to www.microsoft.com and search their Knowledge Base for installation and/or bootup procedure for your operating system.
