floopy

Question

Whenever i try to get info out of any floppy disk it comes up with the message " the disk in drive a is not formatted do you want to format it now" but i do not wish to formatt it because it has valluable information on it. the same floppy works on my friends computers just not mine, i was wondering if it could b anything to do with my upgrading my os from windows 98-2000 any help woulp be grately apreciated!
