Floppy Drive locked

Question

When trying to use the floppy drive, the msg "disk utility has locked this drive" appears and the drive can not be used. Why would this happen...and how can it be unlocked? Have tried everything I can think of to unlock it, but to no avail. Please help.

I would try just supplu cleaning it. Sometime the floppy drive collects so much dust that it would function. you could clean it with a bottle of dry air or with a dust buster. Carlos Millan Jr.
