I called to inquire about pricing to remove a virus from my laptop and believe I spoke with Bill. He said it would be a free check, a $59 charge to evaluate, and up to $200 to remove viruses. I brought my laptop in and Will helped me and did see the virus and took computer in. I paid the $59 and he told me it could be an additional $220 depending on the extent of damage. I mentioned the $200 I heard on the phone and he told me the maximum charge for this service is $279. I wasnt happy but I needed to get it taken care of so I agreed. When Will called me back he gave me a list of things wrong and his plan to fix as well as a free Microsoft Antivirus software and a tune up to speed up the computer for an additional $220. I asked about splitting payments and he got approval (Thank You). When I got the call about it being fixed, I was told that some devices that may have been plugged into the computer may be infected as well just bring them to get scanned.
I came in Monday morning to pick up the computer and asked Wesley about scanning my CF card which contains picture and document files that were plugged into the computer, and he said it wouldnt have any. Why was I asked to bring them in if they wouldnt have any?? I then asked if he could see if the Microsoft Antivirus was installed and he looked at papers and said it was determined that the Avast I was currently using was equal to the Microsoft so No it was not. He recommended to take care of all updates as they come in to deter from other infections.
I paid the partial payment of $120 and got a receipt with a remaining balance of $106, and nothing of my payment of $120. I didnt get anything else. I thought I would have gotten something to show what was done to my computer other than "Overhaul", and how much I have already paid towards the completed work... for my records. I'm not familiar to this type of service and dont even know if what I thought I would get is even something you offer, but there was alot of papers Wesley was looking at to give me information.
Aside from a little discouraging communication and paperwork, I am so far happy with the work completed. I am still leary about plugging my CF card back into my computer also, and dont know how to scan it. I was told your thumb drive got infected -- being a storage device?? Still having a problem with Management Program - Yardi. Getting error message in Microkernal (Yardi start up program "Error reading the registry. Error code 2" Yardi will not allow the Balance Sheet to bring of Balance Sheet to the screen but will allow the Balance Sheet to be printed. Yardi program will not allow it to be reinstalled. Still waiting for response from Yardi.
With my limited knowledge it sounds like I managed to screw up the Yardi Program on the compute and have tried two different Yardi CD's with the program but sill cannot install.4.5 / 5 stars
The computer is work just OK, it's still working slow after the promise that it would be working faster after ridding the computer of it's problems. I still am getting "blue screen" at times. It was very slow bring up this questionaire as an example. I must wait a long time for programs if they come up at all. I get warning pop up the programs is not running etc. or come back later to it.
The result is not worth the $270.00 that I was charged for the service. I have not had a chance to bring it back to the store, but I will so it can be checked.5 / 5 stars

I dealt with a service tech names Will and he was very knowledgable and helpful. He made great suggestions. Very polite and overall a great interaction. I liked that I could call and he was able to answer any questions and took the time to talk over the phone. The only negative I could say is that the whole experience was very expensive. I brought 2 laptops and spent hundreds. I would consider returning and recommending Data Drs. to someone. Mary
