A Better Map from Google

It’s time for another Data Doctors Tech Tip

Alright, for years now Google Maps has been the go-to place for directions.. but it’s been a while since we were wowed by anything new.

Get ready to experience it and to travel with it on a whole new level. Google rebuilt Google Maps as it says, from “the ground up.”

Remember wanting to travel somewhere and hopping back and forth between “Street Views” in Maps and “Google Earth” to get a good sense of something you wanted to include in your travel?

Google is kicking it up serveral notches with lots of new improvements that will make using the desktop version of Maps a lot more detailed than anything we can get on our smartphones.

Along with a lot more custimization of your searches, Google Earth and street views will all be on one screen for an amazing view of your destination.

You’ll also be able to view a restaurant, the best route to get there, reviews of the restaurant and the menu all in one place.

And as always, Google will be focusing on relevance to make smart recommendations tailored to how you are using their mapping data.. The more you use it, the more you’ll find yourself discovering new and exciting places that you never knew existed!

It’s slowly being rolled out by invitation only, so if you want to get on the list, just go to Google Maps on your computer and click the blue Find out how’ button on the left column!
