Apple's iPod - the ultimate in portable MP3 players!
MP3 is a compression format that makes music one-tenth its original size with little or no loss in quality.

Once your music has been digitized, you can carry up to 4,000 songs at a time with Apple's iPod!

We asked out Mac geek, Louis of Mac Media to show us this cool device that also has some basic PDA features, such as a calendar and address book. Not only can this device be used as a portable music system, many users are plugging it into their home stereos and using it as their primary music source at home!

Communicate with your friends on all of the popular IM programs!
If you have friends on multiple Instant Messaging systems, you can chat with them all with one FREE program...

To learn how, check out this week's Super Geek Tip of the Week!.

The Tech of Cars part II
On last week's episode, we showed you how technology is affecting what we drive. This week we show you how it's changing the way our cars get serviced as we continue our field trip to

the world's largest BMW dealership, BMW of North Scottsdale!

Editing the History file in Internet Explorer
Dan asks: "Is there a way to remove certain web addresses from Internet Explorers pull down list of previously visited web sites?".

The answer is no and yes!

No, because by default you can only clear the entire history file in Internet Explorer's built in tools (click on Tools, Internet Options and click on the Clear History button.)

AND Yes, because if you know how to navigate to the History folder for your profile, you can manually eliminate certain entries in the list. BUT if you want to make it real easy, download a FREE program such as EditURLs that gives you total control over the IE address drop down list!

Rob asks: "What are all those files with the hash (~) mark in front of them?"
Windows based systems use what are called "temporary files" for various tasks and applications. Generally, when the application is closed or when Windows is shut down, these temp files are automatically deleted.

If, for some reason, your program or Windows is not shut down properly, these files will remain. You can generally delete these files as long as no programs are currently open, since they could be in use. We suggest, as an alternative, to use the built-in tools in Windows that allow you to get rid of all of these unneeded files.

Close all your programs, then click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools then look for the Disk Cleanup option, which will find all of the junk and give you the option to discard it!

Frank asks: "Why won't my Windows 98 machines see the Windows 2000 machine?"
Windows 2000, NT and XP all incorporate real security in them by requiring a valid user to login to them before granting access. This is why you can't press the Esc key to bypass the login screen like you can in Windows 95 or 98, which have no real security.

That is also why the Windows 2000 machine can see and access the Windows 98 systems with no problem, but the 98 systems have no idea that the 2000 system exists.

The solution is to create users in the Windows 2000 system then those exact user names when the Windows 98 system ask you to login. If you leave the password blank when you create the accounts in the Win2K system, you won't need one in the Win98 system. If you do use a password when you create the accounts, remember that they are case sensetive!

Trivial Tech Term

IM: Instant Messaging is a private form of 'chatting' on the Internet, your cell phone or any IM enabled device. Some of the more popular IM programs include AOL’s Instant Messenger, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger and the MSN Messenger.

Tip of the Week

Use Trillian to IM with different services!: If you start using Instant Messaging, it doesn't take long to get hooked, but what do you do if you have friends that are on different services?
