Why I get a Error after uninstalling Drive Image

Using WinXPpro SP2. After failure in Norton Ghost, I performed a full uninstall (including registry), and installed Drive Image. In trying to create a backup image of my system drive this application would not recognise the selected image partition from the main window, so I tried from the floppies which I had already created. These showed the same malfunction (not accepting the required filepath for the image), so I tried to abort. There's no apparent facility for this, so I extracted the floppy, and rebooted. The computer would not reboot into Windows - hung at the end of POST with the error "unable to locate vfloppy". Several reboots later I inserted the Windows installation disc, and, with some juggling, got into Windows. Right then, I did a system restore, which then brought me to an active system, but with one big annoyance. Each time I boot up the computer, another 2 error messages appear at the end of POST - "Error5: Error finding VFLOPPY.sys" and "Error8: Fake Floppy drive not found", and then the conventional "to boot into partition, press any key". This then restores normal operation.

Any ideas of how these errors can be eliminated?

PQ's Drive Image software sometimes makes a mess of the MBR and so you need to repair it I have heard there is a tool to do this by PQ but i can't say how well it works for i haven't used it But here's some steps to get your MBR back in order and then your error 5 and 8 should be eliminated.

In case you're using Windows 9x/ME/NT 4.0 WS: run a FDISK /mbr from a

bootable Windows 98 floppy

(Get one from http://www.bootdisk.com)

-In case you're using Windows 2000/XP: Run a repair from the 2000 or XP

CD-ROM, access the Recovery Console and run a FIXMBR

(The disks can also be downloaded from http://www.bootdisk.com)

Hope this helps.
