Our old computer was pulled from the closet in hopes that we could retrieve a couple of documents. We get the message "Missing operating system".Of course, that's as far as it will boot. The date had reverted to 1993. It is a 486SX-33 with Win 3.1 operating system. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jay Smith

Is there a hardrive attached to the computer? you would probobly need to preform a fresh install of the os but it doesn't seem like that might work You should probobly open it up and see if any cables are dissconnected/or loose from the motherboard My suggestionw ould be to just trash it Doing a fresh install would erradicate everything on the hardrive anyway so it would make no sens to even salvage the pc Your only other option would be to remove the harddrive and install it inside of another computer in hopes that it could be detected and the files could be pulled of if not then you're out of luck.
