Purge comet.dll file

Question

I have tried everything to get rid of Comet.dll which keeps showing up in my temp files everytime I boot. I have looked in uninstall in control panel, in file search in the find section <wont let me delete>. I even deleted it thru Lava-soft ada-ware <spyware removal> yet it will not stop loading. Can you help? I am a average user, so please help me in average user terms. Thank you. ps your show is awesome!!!!!

Thanks for your question, and I think I found the answer to your problem. If you have the latest RealPlayer installed, it probably installed a troublesome little thing called Comet Cursor without you knowing it. You can check to see if you have it by going to Find Files and Folders and type c:\windows\system\comet.dll on your system. Now if you have it check to see if you have a file c:\windows\system\cuninst.exe this un-installs Comet Cursor. Go to Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel, select Comet Cursor from the list and click Add/Remove. It goes very quickly like it doesn't do anything. Now reboot to get IE to unload the comet.dll. After reboot delete c:\windows\system\comet.dll. Now run regedit from the Run Program option on the start bar. In regedit navigate the tree to the location o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\comet right click the Comet key in the tree list and select Delete. Your system is now dis-infected.

Good Luck
