Beware of Black Friday / Cyber Monday

Data Doctors Radio Show Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is often referred to as the busiest shopping day of the year that helps retailers get "in the black".

Historically, the actual busiest shopping day of the year tends to be the Saturday before Christmas, but Black Friday always figures prominently and is the beginning of the "holiday deal" season.

Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving and is more of a PR stunt to encourage online shopping.

Since technology changes on such a rapid pace, how do you know when a deal is really a dog in disguise? (A dog at $400 is still a dog at $199, isn't it?)

And did you know that your chances of contracting spyware or other malware is amongst the highest during these high shopping periods?

Listen in as the Data Doctors give you the insider info on the many tricks of the retail trade and give you tips on avoiding buying on the hype!

Dead Pixel: A defective pixel that remains unlit on a LCD display. Dead pixels are generally black and easiest to see against a white background and different from a "stuck pixel" which will permanently display one of the primary colors (and easiest to see against a black background). Stuck pixels can sometimes be corrected with special software (like UDPixel) that rapidly flashes numerous colors.
