Phighting Phishing and Pharming!
First came phishing, the devious online practice of luring unsuspecting netizens to bogus websites through the use of fake e-mails. Disguised as legitimate requests for information from reputable companies such as eBay, PayPal, and financial institutions users are lured into giving up SSN, PINs and other personal info. Now, a new cyber scheme, called pharming, has emerged! It can take the form of a phishing-like e-mail that actually alters a file in your computer so that even if you manually type the legitimate address of certain financial institutions, you will be directed to the malicious site that gathers this info vital to identity theft.
