But, in the early days of the Internet, what web browser you used matter little and was more an issue of convenience, not security. And, so Microsoft gained a huge market share with Internet Explorer, since it was shipped with every copy of Windows, and subsequently used by default by the majority of netizens.

Today we still have a smorgasbord of web browsers to choose from. But, now the focus has shifted to security and usability, in light of the glut of dangers online. One of the fastest growing web browser alternatives available now is an open source project called Firefox. Most of us have heard of it and many have begun using it. Origin of the @ Symbol: In the 6th or 7th century Latin scribes tried to save a little effort by shortening the Latin word “ad” (at, to, or toward) by stretching the upstroke of “d” and curving it over the “a”. And while in the English language today, we know it as the “at symbol”, it goes by many unusual pseudonyms throughout the world. South Africa calls it the “monkey’s tail”. In Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia it’s the “crazy”. In the Czech Republic it’s “pickled herring”. The French often refer to it as “little snail”. In Greece it’s “little duck”. There’s no official word for it in Thailand, but “wiggling worm-like character” (that’s got to make giving out your e-mail address rather cumbersome).
